when should I start pronating in my tennis serve?
I finally have developed proper serve technique, but at the moment I am being forced to use a semi-western forehand grip because I am unable to find the right moment to pronate with a Continental can anyone help me out?
I used to be a tennis instructor for a legit place. Pronating will occur naturally if you stay loose. Don’t ever, ever pronate on purpose. Pronating will help the ball go in the box better. If you ever wonder why the balls might be flying long, it could be because you are not pronating caused by your wrist not being loose enough. I totally hate to break this to you but if you want a really good serve, use a continental grip. Ever single pro uses a continental grip on the serve. It took me a while, but my serve it way better because of it. Honest first thing I’d worry about isn’t pronating, it’s using the grip.
Try using an eastern grip not a continental. You pronate right after you roll over the ball. The semi-western is fine also since its what most pros use. Make believe you have a watch on your racquet hand and right after you make contact look at the time on your watch. This will allow you to pronate properly. Hope it helps and practice, practice and oh yes practice. Good luck… Tennis rules!
