What is the best type of tennis racquet for a beginner in tennis?
I’m going to start tennis soon, and yes i do suck at tennis, but i still need a good one. I’m thinking about Wilson.
I don’t know your playing style, and if you haven’t started yet, you probably wouldn’t know as well.
I started tennis this year, and I’m currently using a Prince racket (hybrid tour 03, I’m probably an advanced player now, this racket is different to the other prince rackets, it isn’t easy to control, you need control yourself. But this one seems to make the balls heavy for the opponent when they try hit it back) because I prefer big sweet spots, light rackets, and easy to control type. Most Prince rackets are light and have big sweet spots, with more control. Wilson rackets are the aggressive type, at least, for most of their models, they’re very light weight and have a lot of power (not speed, but they make the ball heavy. Head rackets are very similar to the Prince rackets, just a tad bit of difference in materials. Yonex has plenty of rackets out there for beginners, if you need a racket for coaching, you should get one from Yonex. Bablobat is similar to Wilson, but Wilson just seems to be more popular.
The conclusion draws to, Bablobat and Yonex are more for beginners. You should change to Prince or Wilson after you’re an intermediate player, but don’t use the racket I’m using because you’ll need a lot of practice to control that racket, it’s very lively (I practice 2-4 hours a day, so I kinda got used to it real fast).
P.S I’m 13 years old and I’m a guy if you’re wondering
It all depends on preference. i recommend trying a few rackets and seeing which one you like best. I have a Wilson Kblade 98. it’s a good racket but some don’t like it. So try out a few and see which is best.

Go to a local tennis store ( not academy ) and ask for a junior tennis racquet. They will be a little more expensive than a average barbie racquet but you will become better when your equipment is better.

Well, that depends on the beginner. Many newbies prefer ‘game improvement’ or ‘power’ racquets. These usually have larger heads and such to turn less input force into more output force on the ball.
If you want a racquet to use for a long time and improve with, then go for a smaller racquet (90 to 105 or so square inches). These are often called ‘players racquets’.
Just look around on Tennis Warehouse and stuff.
Oh, and Wilson doesn’t mean much. That’s one brand, with about 30 or so models out right now.
If you find a racquet you like from any major brand, it’ll do fine. (Wilson, HEAD, Yonex, Volkl, Babolat, etc.)

Check out places like Tennis Ranch Gladesville becasue you can actually borrow rackets to test. You could find that most big tennis suppliers have this unique service. K Mart only sell cheap rackets. You dont have to spend 400 on a racket but if you were going to stick to the sport you have to spend over 200. Depending on your funds I would not go below 170. You can also buy an old model that has become ols stock eg buy the 2209 model instaed of the 2010 model. The technology doesnt change that dramtically in 1 year.
